Hi. If you’re intrigued/perplexed/excited by what I’ve posted in the past about data syndication and visualization tools, I hope that you will be able to join us next Tuesday morning at the National Press Club for an informative and stimulating seminar on the topic of the strategic use of organizational data feeds such as RSS and KML that are making data accessible and easy to interpret: Web Sites Without Walls: Influential Strategies for Site Syndication.
Sponsored by Forum One Communications, the strategic communications consulting firm, the panel will include:
- Vivek Kundra, the District of Columbia’s dynamic CTO, a world leader in use of data feeds and visualization to improve agency performance, reduce costs, and spark creativity.
- Andy Carvin, NPR’s Web 2.0 strategist. IMHO, more impressive is that way that Andy set in motion, in a matter of hours, The Hurricane Information Center, which quickly became the hub for information from a wide range of governmental and social-network sources during Gustav — and has already changed gears to help prepare for Hanna and Ike! Needless to say, data feeds are a critical source of content for the site.
- Clay Johnson, director of Sunlight Labs, the technical wing of the Sunlight Foundation, which is leading the way in using data visualization to improve governmental transpareny.
I’ll start things off with a strategic overview of the issue and its potential benefits — and the management transition it will require! Early-bird registration is $80. Hope to see you there!
