(un) Ready.gov: they still don’t get it

PARDON ME FOR SHOUTING, BUT I’VE BEEN ON (UN) READY.GOV’S CASE SINCE THEY WERE CREATED ABOUT THEIR FAILURE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT CREATIVE USE OF CELL PHONES AND OTHER MOBILE, PERSONAL, NETWORKED COMMUNICATION DEVICES PLUS WEB 2.0 APPS — ESPECIALLY ONES SUCH AS TWITTER THAT FACILITATE MOBILE SOCIAL NETWORKS.
HOWEVER, I JUST CHECKED THEIR HURRICANE PAGE, AND THERE’S NO, NADA, ZILCH, MENTION OF ANY OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES.
AS I JUST SAID IN A NOT-TOO DIPLOMATIC E-MAIL TO THEIR DIRECTOR, THESE TOOLS EXIST, WE USE THEM DAILY, AND WE’RE GOING TO USE THEM IN EMERGENCIES WHETHER OR NOT OFFICIALS WANT US TO, SO IF THEY’VE GOT AN OUNCE OF SENSE, THEY’D DAMN WELL BETTER COME TO TERMS WITH 2008.
FORTUNATELY, A NEW REGIME WILL TAKE OVER IN 2009, BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL NEEDLESSLY SUFFER BEFORE THEN?
