Data visualization of latest bin Laden video: compare and contrast!
By WDavidStephenson | December 31, 2007
I invite you to check both this one and the one I did of his September 20th video,
“On Jihad,” and to compare and contrast the words that he uses most frequently.
One thing that jumped out at me in both cases was the frequent use of “corporations” — the sixth most used word in the video — while the United States was mentioned so infrequently that it wasn’t among the 200 most used words in the speech. Note also, given current events, how frequently Pervez Musharraf showed up in the earlier speech compared to this one.
Assuming that OBL doesn’t have a speechwriter (and therefore writes these narratives himself) it seems to me his word use patterns can be important indicators of what are his greatest values — and of the things that inflame him.
Let me know what you find!
