Utter baloney from LAPD on mapping Islamic areas
By WDavidStephenson | November 14, 2007
Please pardon my long silence: my wife faces a major health challenge, and we’ve got a laser focus on her care, so I’ll only be posting occasionally in the near future. Yes, prayers and good wishes are gratefully appreciated.
Meanwhile, if you missed it last week, you’ve got to listen to Robert Siegel’s interview with LAPD Deputy Chief Michael Downing to appreciate the double-speak about what is obviously a racial profiling plan, disguised as an effort “to figure out why some communities are more susceptible to ‘violent, ideologically based extremism.’”
Given Downing’s rhetoric about those who are isolated from the mainstream, maybe he should be mapping residents of the Hollywood Hills enclaves, who are certainly isolated. Shouldn’t the fast-changing whereabouts of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richey be mapped?
This kind of harassment has no place in America, further eroding our status as a beacon of freedom and liberty, further inflaming hatred in the Islamic world and driving them together.
Yet another failure to exercise systems thinking in the homeland security field.
