College admissions news: MIT admits idiots!
By WDavidStephenson | September 21, 2007
Shades of last winter’s Adult Swim controversy in the Hub of the Universe, which revealed a generational divide between those of us who pay mortgages and snot-nosed kids (bring on those snarky responses, boys and girls …) over what is and isn’t funny in the age of terrorism.
Some (by no means all!) kids are still living in some sort of pre-9/11 Never-Neverland, where it’s ok to publicly joke about terrorism. Guess what: it ain’t.
The latest is a clueless sophomore (appropriately, given her sophomoric behavior at — get this — MIT:
“An MIT student wearing a device on her chest that included lights and wires was arrested at gunpoint at Logan International Airport this morning after authorities thought the contraption was a bomb strapped to her body.”
Not funny, lady. I hope she brought her quantum physics book with her so she can keep up with her homework while cooling her heels in the Suffolk County House of Corrections …. (BTW, this comes on the heels of an incident where several diligent volunteers cleaning up the Charles River were burned by sodium tossed into the river by some Techies as part of an annual prank. Also not funny).
Go about your business: I’m late for a shuffleboard tournament at the old folks home…
