et al.: big business steals vision for cheap, dangerous toys
By WDavidStephenson | August 14, 2007
Long before toy
magnate Irwin Mainway began pushing the “Bag-o-Glass” toy (why didn’t I think of that?) and long before mainstream toy companies began their race to the bottom by making lead-painted toys in China, one of my roommates at America’s Finest Liberal Arts College mesmerized us with his bold vision to build a factory in Macao to make cheap, dangerous toys. Sure a lot of people laughed at him, and I must admit I had my doubts, but in fact he was an economic visionary, a man ahead of his times. Leon, I salute you!
PS: do you think this outrage will finally bring back a “Made in the USA” movement?
