Why I see hope in Chertoff’s “gut” feeling risk increasing: promising sign
By WDavidStephenson | July 11, 2007
Don’t get me wrong from that headline! I don’t want any increase in the risk of a terror attack.
HOWEVER, Sec. Chertoff’s remark to the Chicago Tribune ed board that he has a “gut feeling” the risk of an attack is increasing did reassure me in one way: that Chertoff and other DHS brass, whom I’ve suggested are so left-brained and analytical that they may literally be incapable (not a value judgment — just a physiological one) of “connecting the dots,” are now exhibiting some signs of intuition — and that kind of balance has got to be an important asset in the continuing war against terrorists who don’t play by the book, improvise, etc.
